Eastern Red Cedar

The Eastern Red Cedar, Juniperus virginiana, is a large evergreen tree that dates back to aboriginal America and is a sacred tree for indigenous people. Before harvesting, a “gift” of tobacco is usually left at the base of the tree. The leaves and berries are used for the medicinal benefits, and the wood/bark is used for a variety of crafts.
